Templates and starter documents
If you send the same kind of document again and again, set it up once as a template. Every new copy starts with the file, the people and the fields already in place.
Save a template
- In the editor, choose Actions, then Save as a template.
- Or on a document’s page, choose Save as template.
The template keeps the file, the people (or placeholders for them), their roles and their fields. It is never sent itself, and it is never auto-deleted. You can keep up to 50 templates.
Use a template
- Go to Templates in the top bar.
- Choose Use next to the template. A new draft opens in the editor.
- Change the people to the right names and emails, check the fields, and send as normal.
Choose Edit to change the template itself. Changes don’t affect documents you have already made from it. Deleting a template asks for your password and doesn’t affect documents made from it.
Starter documents
Under Starter documents there are four ready-made forms with the fields already placed: a mutual confidentiality agreement (NDA), a freelance services agreement, a photo and video release, and a quote acceptance form. Choose Use this to start a draft, replace the placeholder people with real ones, fill in the details such as the law that applies and the currency, and send. You can read more about each one on our public templates page.
They are general starting points, not legal advice. Check that one suits your situation, and ask a lawyer if it matters.
Templates in a team
In a team, your templates are shared with the team unless you choose Make private (where your account allows private documents). Everyone in the team can use shared templates.
