How to get a PDF signed online

Updated 4 October 2026

You can get a PDF signed online in a few minutes, and your signers do not need an account. Here is the whole process, step by step.

Step by step

  1. Upload your PDF. Choose the file from your computer. It can be up to 15 MB and 100 pages. If it is password-protected, remove the password first. Scanned documents work as long as they are saved as a PDF.
  2. Add the people who need to sign. Enter each person’s name and email address. You can add up to 10 signers, and each one gets their own colour so it is easy to see whose fields are whose.
  3. Place the fields. Drag signature, initials, date, text and checkbox fields onto the pages, or click where you want one. Move and resize them, and mark each as required or optional. It works with a mouse, a keyboard and a touch screen.
  4. Choose how it is sent. Pick whether people sign at the same time or one after another, set a deadline, and decide whether to send gentle reminders. Add a short message if you like.
  5. Send it. Each signer receives an email with a private link.
  6. Your signers sign. They open the link on any phone or computer, check the document and sign. They can draw their signature, type it or upload an image of it. You can see when each person opens and signs.
  7. Download the signed PDF. When everyone has signed, you get the final PDF with an activity trail page added at the end, and everyone is told it is complete.

If you need to sign too

Add yourself as one of the signers and sign your own fields directly on the document before you send it. If the other person is with you, they can open the signing page on their own phone by scanning a QR code, so nobody has to wait for an email.

If you send the same document often

Save it as a template and start each new copy with the signers and fields already in place. There are also four plain-English UK starter forms: a mutual confidentiality agreement, a freelance services agreement, a photo and video release, and a quote acceptance. They are general information, not legal advice.

What it costs

Signers never pay and never need an account. For you, every plan starts with a 7-day free trial with 3 documents and no card. After that it is £8.50 a month for one person or £29 a month for a team of 5, with no per-document fees. See pricing.

Before you send

Make sure the document is one that can be signed electronically. Wills, lasting powers of attorney and deeds that need a witness in person cannot. See which documents can’t be signed electronically.
